"Original, cutting-edge technology is supporting the development of innovative new drugs."
"Structuring research to nurture motivation and creative thinking"
The development of original new therapeutic drugs is driven by the motivation of individual scientists and their ability to think along new paths. Ono has set clear targets for encouraging researchers' initiative and creative thinking, and adopted a work system centered on interdisciplinary teams of outstanding scientists with contrasting backgrounds.
"Intensive application of the latest techniques and data to research new drugs"
Pharmaceutical companies greatly depend on the development of new drugs. Ono has continued to build on our long record of inventing new medications, actively conducting basic and applied research for the development of more innovative drugs.
Tsukuba Research Institute:

At the Tsukuba Research Institute, the Exploratory Research Laboratory utilizes genomic technologies to search for new, medically promising compounds and elucidate their therapeutic potential, while the Pharmacokinetics Research Laboratory Tsukuba studies the behavior of newly discovered compounds.
Minase Research Institute:

The Medicinal Chemistry Research Laboratory designs new compounds using information technologies, and devises efficient methods of synthesis with high-speed synthetic and screening equipment. Three separate Discovery Research Laboratories evaluate the pharmaceutical effectiveness of synthesized compounds, searching for highly innovative drugs in our priority research areas of prostaglandins, enzyme inhibitors, neuroscience, and intracellular signaling. The Pharmacokinetics Research Laboratory studies new drug candidates in vivo to evaluate absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, as well as drug interaction. The Pharmaceutical Development Laboratory performs pilot formulations of new drug candidates and develops quality assurance procedures.
Fukui Research Institute:

The Safety Research Laboratory, with facilities and equipment that meet top global standards, studies new drug candidates to identify potential for toxicity or carcinogenicity, and possible reproductive or genetic effects. The Chemical Process Research Laboratory conducts scale-up research for the mass production of new pharmaceutical drug substances, and develops more efficient and economical synthetic technologies.
